Celtic Oktoberfest: Day 2

Whoo! Anne arrives today and we make our trek up to Belfast (in Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom) by train. We had some time to kill before we were to catch our train. So we hung out with Rory and had some coffee.

We took the bus to the train station. Grabbed some lunch to eat on our ride. I got a chicken fillet sandwich with honey mustard (so good) and Anne got a chips sandwich (yes, fries/chips between bread). The ride was nice…it went along the coast for a bit (so lots of water views, but then it headed inland. Oh, and get this…our names were on our seats. That was kind of cool.On the train about to eat our sandwiches

Upon arriving in Belfast, we had to hustle to our Afternoon Tea reservations at the Titanic Belfast museum. We were having Afternoon Tea at the bottom of the famed grand staircase. Yes, we’ve got photos (a total Instagram moment). There was a nice jazz trio playing that day and not a string quartet (which would have been pretty epic). Having Afternoon Tea as our first meal in Belfast did not disappoint. Let’s just say with afternoon tea, we never really need dinner that night.

We checked out the museum after afternoon tea, which was pretty interested. It was a lot about the history of Northern Ireland (before the Titanic). Then there was the bit about the Titanic…and then the stuff after Titanic (like how they searched the wreckage and such). It was cool.

After all that, we headed to our AirBnb down near Queens College to check in…and rest for the night. Our resting included watching episodes of The Great British Bake Off that we don’t have access to in the States. Tomorrow would be our Paddywagon Day Trip out to the Giants Causeway and other such fun destinations and points of interest. Follow along on our journey.
