Celtic Oktoberfest: Day 10

Another full day in Dublin and more adventures await. Our day started with a tour of the Guinness Storehouse with our new friends Enrique and Pepe. We were running a little behind, but we caught up with them eventually. Anne and I have been on a lot of brewery tours, so we moved quickly through the first part that tells you how beer is made. Then we needed some food on a nuclear level and grabbed a couple scones to consume before continuing on our self-guided tour.

It was just what we needed. We attended the Guinness Academy and got our official certificates. We went through the tasting room and smelled all the smells and tasted the baby Guinness. And then we made our way up to the Gravity Bar at the top of the Storehouse. The Gravity Bar affords its patrons a 360-degree view of Dublin. We even found seats to enjoy the view (Dublin in fairly flat, but you can see the Wicklow Mountains in the distance).
Anne and I had lunch at Arthur’s Bar in the Storehouse. I got a Guinness Pie, because I had to and Anne got the vegetable soup. It was a cold, dreary day out so these two items perfectly suited.

After the Storehouse and a little bit of souvenir shopping, we headed back home. We needed a nap or some time to relax after our adventures from the night before. I ended up meeting up with Robbie for dinner at Foley’s and Anne grabbed some dinner out as well. After dinner, I headed over to Kehoe’s for some stand-up comedy with Enrique and Pepe. It was better than I was expecting. Enrique and Pepe were headed up to Belfast the next day so they hung out for about half the show and I was having another travel day.
