Baramee Birthday Month – 2020 Edition

As I write this up, I’m officially announcing that Baramee Birthday Month is officially over. It was not the typical Baramee Birthday Month, but how could it be as this is 2020 and there are so many things going on in the external world (BLM, COVID-19, Pride Month, etc). But, in true Baramee fashion, I will still celebrate Birthday Month (I started a little late, but better late than never and went a day extra into July because I needed a redo on the Birthday burger…and the Birthday boba didn’t necessarily happen, but that’s okay). Read below for the Birthday Month recap.

Birthday Month is over and it wasn’t all that bad even with 2020 raging on. I took the time to celebrate and appreciate all the people in my life that I got to see and those I didn’t. You guys are the world to me and I’m love you all.

Also, I took the time this month to indulge in one of my passions…FOOD. Can you tell? I definitely spent more this month on take out than any other month, but that’s okay because BIRTHDAY MONTH. I crossed off a decent amount of restaurants on my bucket list and didn’t make my wallet take too big a hit. It was all so good. Do I have a favorite…? [insert thinking emoji] So, I’d probably say tops would be Omakase Yume and the chirashi don was probably my favorite. I loved elements of the Tokyo bento box from NEXT, but the wakame salad just had too much ginger for me. The dinner from Smyth was good, the salad, the soft shell crab and the rice pilaf, but did not super stand out and I didn’t like the dessert, but that’s probably a personal preference thing. I think the dinners I enjoyed the most were probably the ones I made with my brother in Minnesota.

The other things I’ve thoroughly enjoyed during birthday month was all the whiskey I purchased (3 bottles [insert embarassed emoji]). I bought Bulleit bourbon to make old fashions. I bought Toki by Suntory to make highballs. I bought Auchentoshan to drink on the rocks. It was a nice change up from the wine and beer we’d been drinking…and made birthday month a little bit fancier.
