It’s July – 2020 Edition

Hey guys, we’ve made it through half of 2020 at this point and who would’ve ever thought life would look like this. I’m sure there are many of us that have had our plans thwarted, delayed or even cancelled. Has anyone started rescheduling yet? Some people have even started to travel I’ve noticed. I’m not there yet other than what has turned into a monthly trip up to see my mom and brother in MN. The trips up there have proven to be a much needed change of scenery.

My Thailand move update: the end is near? Well, as of July 1st, travel restrictions and the ban on incoming international flights to Thailand have been lifted. However, the kingdom (that’s what I’m learning they call it) is not open to tourist yet. They are slowly allowing domestic travel so I get to see those people traveling within their own country (via Instagram), but heck…I can do that in my own country too technically speaking. The question is, do I want to? Do I trust other states? Am I ready to fly? Honestly, I’m not ready to fly so mini-road trips are life. Travel for foreign tourist is expected to open up in 4Q…so I still have a couple months here.

I’ve decided my unemployment has moved beyong fun-employment to retirement. I wasn’t exactly planning on an early retirement, but I’m thoroughly beginning to enjoy every bit of it. I’ve picked up the guitar again, but this time not just to learn how to play, but to learn how to play an actual song. My Korean is getting better as is my Thai, but I’ve taken a break from actively learning to read it. Soooo much vocabulary. And let’s just say I’m doing more reading than actual speaking (one day).

Media Consumptions (video form):

  1. Katie & Alexa (English, Netflix) – finished, enjoyable and light hearted
  2. The Order (English, Netflix) – watching season 2
  3. Avatar: The Last Airbender (English, Netflix) – finished, still as good as ever
  4. Hospital Playlist (Korean, Netflix) – not what I was expected, the episodes were long, still figuring out how I feel about the series overall
  5. It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (Korean, Netflix) – really enjoying this
  6. Game of Thrones (English, HBOMax) – we’ve made it to season 8
  7. The Big Bang Theory (English, HBOMax) – season 4, still so good
  8. Prophecy of Love (Thai, YouTube) – enjoying this and patiently waiting for new episodes each week
  9. Rak Laek Pop (Thai, YouTube) – it’s intriguing enough that I keep watching it
  10. Hamilton: An American Musical (English, Disney+) – better than I expected especially having had the opportunity to see the show live
  11. Beauty Inside (Korean, Viki) – I liked it, just hate commericals
  12. Doctor Who (English, HBOMax) – watching season 11
  13. The Crown Princess (Thai, YouTube) – first time viewing
  14. Was It Love? (Korean, Netflix) – just released, so we will see

So, what else have I been doing now that Birthday month is officially over. I’ve been selling things on FB Marketplace for my friend. Apparently, I do a pretty decent job at it. And you know, it’s househusband stuff. That is my current retirement career. I’ve also been eating pretty decent, but that has never changed. Our social bubble group has been hanging out and we took some personality tests all together. Oh the things we discovered. I hung out with my cousins (at the last minute – and we laughed so much). I sold my car…getting one step closer to Thailand. Fourth of July was spent in someone’s backyard with a good ol’ BBQ and good company. Oh, I also had a “double date” with Christine, which really just turned out to be a meet new people virtual hang.
