14.5 Days in Quarantine

My last blog left off around 5 days into quarantine. I had another 10 days to go. At day 5, I was almost halfway through. I think I was starting to go crazy in the second half, but also super excited to get out…but also anxious. Like, was I going to remember how to socialize with other humans…humans that were strangers and not people that were a part of my social bubble/pod?

So, what did I do during quarantine? Basically, it was the same stuff I did in Chicago on a day-to-day basis but with a few new added things and a big up-tick in video calls. So, what hobbies did I pick up…working out. I made use of my free 3-month free trial of Apple Fitness+. I’ve got to say, I enjoyed it. I haven not used it since I got out of quarantine, so at some point will have to get back on that train.

I had writer’s block and still do, so that writing of that book is just not going to happen. The outline is more or less there, but the story, at the moment is a no go. Life in quarantine, though I was able to keep myself entertained, was very boring. I even got sick of watching TV! I even had a mini boredom photo shoot.

I signed up for an Audible subscription, so instead of reading Crazy Rich Asians, I choose to listen to it. I like it and am moving along much faster than when I was reading it. Audible is a winner and great to have on even when I’m not driving in the car. Also, there were 2 COVID swab test involved (the kind that goes way up there to take some bits of your childhood memories). And there was absolutely no alcohol allowed…amongst other things.

Quarantine food…I can say that I was glad there was an option between a Western meal and a Thai meal. The Thai meals were generally better, but even at times they were a miss. What’s sad is that the meals were actually starting to get better near the end. Seriously though, had they just added a bit of salt to some of the food, it would’ve immediately fixed the problem. Ordered beverages from Room Service a few times because I needed something than water to drink occasionally with the meh food…3 meals a day for 14.5 days. (Warning: food photo dump).

But I’m officially out of quarantine and able to live my life…and find employment.
