Season 3 and we’re in Bangkok-adjacent. Most of my adventures are in Bangkok, though. I’m in a province called Samut Prakan, which is just to the south of Bangkok proper. A lot of people here will just tell foreigners they are from Bangkok because it’s easiest. It’s like saying you’re from Chicago, when you’re really from Chicagoland.

Week 2 is a holiday week. It’s the week of Songkran, which is Thai New Year. It’s also Lao New Year and Khmer (Cambodian) New Year. Annually, I usually celebrate Lao New Year. I was excited to maybe get a chance to celebrate Songkran, but the pandemic had other ideas. We were supposed to go away for the week, but those plans turned to dust in the wind with the rising COVID cases.
