Lock Down?

Life update up ahead. So, since a week before Songkran, the numbers have been rising. They’ve, more or less, plateaued but, for Thailand, the numbers are just still way too high. It pretty much is sitting at about 2,000 new cases every day and the daily death rate is hovering at about 20 or so a day.

The vaccine is not really a thing here and the one they do have is Sinovac (the Chinese one). I wouldn’t trust it, but that’s me. It does look like they’ll be getting Spudnik V (the Russian one) and Pfizer-BioNTech (the German/American one). And as of recently, it looks like they’re looking to build a manufacturing plant for Pfizer in Singapore.

At this point, I’ve been home for 2 weeks straight. I ventured out for a run one when the weather was not stifling hot and humid. Now, it’s hot and humid again. I’ve been busy one and off with Preply, so yay for side hustles. And at the point that this gets posted, I’ll have been at home FOREVER (more than 2 weeks).

What have I been doing?
1. Netflix
2. Eating
3. Sleeping/Naps
4. Social media things (but not video editing…because, right now, I just cannot be bothered – but I swear I’ll get back on that train)
5. Talking to friends
6. Watching movies/tv with my cousin
7. Tutoring English

Ohhh…what a not fun life right now. I think I might prefer staying inside when it’s cold and grey to when it’s hot and sunny. Life update: I had to go back to the immigration office by myself the following week to see if my VISA extension will be approved (it was, but only for 30 days vs the 90 days I requested). Better something than nothing. So, it was time to plan my next steps. While I was in the city, I was able to meet up with my friend for a quick lunch.

Oh, fun note. I did get a “care” package while here. It was from my friend in Phuket (she sent lots of snackies). Snacks packages are the best kind of surprise. There were so many snackies. Thanks Pierce.

A gallery of mostly what I did during the month of May (I went outside…once, maybe twice) and that’s about it. Fun fact: I won a family BINGO and I tried durian properly. My last meal in Samut Prakan was: papaya salad (somtum), grilled pork, sticky rice, tom yum shrimp AND fresh coconut smoothie.

Stay tuned for the adventures in BKK proper where I venture out WAY more.
