Back Home

I’ve been back home for just under 3 weeks now. It still feels so surreal. And just as predicted, it’s going by way to fast. In just over a month a half, I’ll be back on the other side of the world…and fully vaxxed. I’ll be ready to get back into things full forced…but my guess is the number will have only slightly declined…if at all. I don’t understand, they can’t see to shake this latest outbreak at all. Hopefully, come July, the rules for travel will have become more clear and will have changed in my favor. The Sandbox program in Phuket has been approved and is ready to begin come July. However, if COVID cases appear, they may pause the program. My flight isn’t going into Phuket and does not appear to be easy to change. Ugh…looks like I may be quarantining yet again. But, it would be more fun to spend 2 weeks in Phuket freely moving about.
Being in the states, my wallet has definitely taken a hit, but also, loving the opportunity to enjoy the summer here and to see all my friends and family. And there is definitely a lot less melting going on. It’s a strange feeling being “free”…similar to when I had first gotten to Thailand and things were open. It’s been fun though. At the moment, I’m still being careful as I’m only half vaxxed. I will be fully vaxxed come Friday and immune 2 weeks after that. Yay for that peace of mind.
So being back home, I’ve already seen my mom and brother. I’ve spent time with my close friends in Chicago and Minnesota. I will be going to see my friends in NYC (and taking my brother for the first time…apparently, he couldn’t be bothered when I lived there for 5 years).
Highlights of being stateside (other than the humans I’m getting to spend time with):
1. The beer/alcohol

2. The food (current obsessions: potatoes and pasta/noodles)

3. The weather

4. Amazon
5. The hours of daylight

6. All the hanging out.

7. Baramee Birthday Month

8. Malort.Faces is back
9. Ice cream

10. Driving

So June has been fun, but I’m excited to see what July has in store for me. It’ll be August before I know it. I’m not sure I’m ready for that.
