The Misfits Collective

Finally made it down to Apple Valley, to check out this new concept food hall, The Misfits Collective. It’s all dark colors and cleans lines. A modern, cave-y sort of feel, but not like it’s a cave at all. There are 4 “stalls”. The first you enter upon is Eighth Fire, which is the fine dining option. Straight ahead from the main door is Curiouser Coffee, the cafe place. Ratio is to the right with beer and cocktail options and a large bar. Then outside on the patio is The Wanderer, with a round bar, high tops and low table options and with an adventure theme.

It was a beautiful day out, so we choose to sit outside. It had been hot earlier in the day, so it was the perfect choice to spend outside at the bar with the light breeze. We ended up ordering from The Wanderer (since we were outside) and Ratio (because they had pizza rolls). I should’ve taken more photos of the place, but was moreso focusing on the eats and drinks…next time.

Here are our eats and drinks from…The Wanderer.

The drinks were pretty good. The Escape from Reality was strong, but lemonade-y. The quesa birria tacos were my fave part. The beef consumme was really good. It was also my first birria taco (so good first impression). It runs about $7/taco though. Their regular tacos ran $6 (which IMO, is a bit pricey for tacos).

…and from, Ratio.

The pizza rolls were delicious and are filled with goodness, but if you’re hungry, it does really only serve as an appetizer. The old-fashioned was fine…a bit complicated, and I’m not sure it exactly needed it. They also have other kinds available (rum, bourbon and tequila).

Overall the place was cool. I’m interesting in checking out the other restaurants and trying more of the cocktail options and food options. Personally, I think their cocktails are a bit on the complicated side. They were good, but they weren’t the BEST I’ve ever had. The space itself is pretty cool. They even had Norseman axe-throwing available in trailers outside (they just weren’t optional/open yet). So a bit far from everything, but if I’m in the area, I would totally check it out again.
