Let’s Thai This Again

I usually don’t try to be creative or punny, but I’m just in that kind of mood. It’s a Tuesday, around lunch time. Which means, that I should probably eat something. That acai bowl I had for breakfast must have been some kind of filling. Anyways, if you can’t already tell from the title of this post, I’m back in Thailand. But wait, what happened to the rest of the first time in Thailand…what’s missing.

What’s missing is that I started getting more serious about the YouTube videos and less adamant (on myself) to actual posts real posts with real words. But, a couple things have happened and I wanted to share it with you all. Things that don’t really appear in my video.
So a quick catch up. I was here the first time (in Thailand) from February until June. My visa was coming to an end and I had to make a decision. My decision was to go back to the states. I had a couple reasons. The first two were because the COVID cases were rising dramatically in Thailand (due to the Delta variant) and the second reason was because I wanted the vaccine. My TR (tourist) visa was about to expire anyway. So it was time to head back to the states where restrictions were actually easing up and enjoy a “summer of freedom”.

I booked a round trip ticket (and left two of my suitcases here) and was slated to come back in early August. By the time July was rolling around, the case count was still pretty bad (and still rising) and my new visa (for use) didn’t expire until the end of September. So, I changed my flight for the end of September. I had another two months to spend in the US. That gave me lots of time to see my friends and family and to be able to actually say goodbye instead of just send a text saying “see ya”. (I didn’t really do that).
The end of September rolled around and I was headed back to Thailand. The number of new cases was getting better. Restrictions were relaxing a little bit (there’s still a curfew, for now). It seemed less scary and I was fully vaccinated and had more freedom to move around.
I stayed at a different quarantine hotel this time around. The food was much better. The service was great. The room was bigger, but by the middle of the second week. I was so over it. However, I chose a hotel that was closer to my post-quarantine hotel and closer to my friends. Being close to my friends means they could drop off goodies and wave to me from outside.

My first day out of quarantine and I had plans! I was hanging out with my friend, Gluay. She lives nearby. We had to go to the Apple Store (for me). She wanted to see a movie, No Time to Die. And, we grabbed some lunch and later worked out in my room.
So, the thing I wanted to share…was my movie theater experience. I’d never seen a movie in Thailand before. I’d seen a movie in a foreign country before, but it was New Zealand and Australia (where they speak English). So, there was 30 minutes of previews (and ads). Five of those minutes were a tribute to the King. In this tribute, it’s expected for the audience to stand up for it, like the Pledge of Allegiance. What? This was totally new for me and then my friend asked me if we had something like this in the USA. We sure don’t. But I did find out that something like this did exist in South Korea at some point, but, more so, it was propaganda for anti-communism.
So, all that catch up just to tell you that last bit. That’s it for now. I’ll work harder to keep you all catch up win the going ons in the Life of Baramee. Other than that, you can always see what’s up on my YouTube channel.
