A New Video: Loy Krathong

The process of video editing has slowed down a bit, but I’m determined to finish Season 6 before the end of the year…there are only 7 videos left! Whoo! The end is near (but then I have season 7 aka 2023 – which has only 12 videos, but they will probably be longer because there are more adventures!).
So, here’s Episode 45 – I’m celebrating the Loy Krathong Festival with my friend Jessie. There’s tons of food involved. I love this festival and usually celebrate it with my friend Gluay, but she was unavailable this year.
So, what is the Loy Krathong Festival? Loy Krathong is known as the “festival of lights.” It’s celebrated on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar (this puts it around the end of November. For this festival, people will gather at a body of water (a large lake/pond or river) and release small, illuminated (by candle) baskets. This symbolizes gratitude and the letting go of negativity. The baskets are oftentimes in the shape of a lotus (so round). Traditionally, they are made from banana leaves and contain flowers, candles, and incense.
Until the next video!
