My Mini Vacation to the South

Last week, I took a mini vacation down south. I was visiting a new town in Thailand (it’s been a while). Part of my trip down south was a true vacation, the other part was a work-cation. So, where did I go? I went going to Phuket and Krabi. Phuket, I’ve been to before, and I’ve properly toured around it before, but this will be my first time in Krabi. I didn’t have much planned, but I knew there were a few things I was supposed to check out.
Let’s start with my first destination. I was flying from Bangkok to Phuket. This would my first time staying at a resort and really just doing the resort thing instead of exploring around Phuket (it’s big and takes a while to get to places, so honestly, I didn’t mind just relaxing and taking it easy). I was in Phuket, mainly, to meet up with one of my longest students (3 years I’ve been working with her). Her and her family were only holidays in Phuket (they’ve been waiting – COVID got in the way).

So we did resort things. We spent time by the pool. We spent time on the beach. We checked out another beach. We ate out. We ate in. We drank. We played some ping pong. I used the gym. We tried things in the breakfast buffet. It was a relaxing few days in Phuket and it was really cool to be able to spend time with Nastya’s family.

After Phuket, they headed down to Kata Beach to meet up with their friends and I headed to Krabi. This was my first time in Krabi. There was plenty to see and do (I’m sure), but I was still in a relaxing mode. I had one day by myself built in, otherwise I was spending it with people. My first night was spending hanging out with and sending off Ratchany and Luc (they were moving out of Thailand). The second day was all for me (in which I did nothing but get food for myself). The third day, Sky arrives in Krabi and we have a chill trip together. I made some new friends at the local bar.

The only things I really did were go to Railay Beach (where there was much time to explore as it completely downpoured on us within 30 min), walk around town and explore the night markets. Overall, I liked it (though it’s super touristy) and I’d love to go back and explore it properly. There’s a lot of hiking there, but cool caves and things and as well. Railay Beach is known for it’s rock climbing, but like I said…we didn’t get to explore much.

The last night before leaving, I got to have one last dinner with Nastya and her family, as well as their friends. Krabi was great, more or less, but I do look forward to going back down there and properly exploring the town itself and also Railay Beach.

Stay tuned for the next adventure!
