Restaurant Club: January

JIang Niu BBQ House was the spot of the month because we couldn’t get reservations for Armitage Alehouse. We went to the Lincoln Park location. So, what exactly is a BBQ House? It’s Korean Chinese Fusion BBQ (and hotpot). And the difference between doing just one or both is only about $5. So of course, we did both (BBQ and hotpot).
There were some banchans to choose from. There were a ton of veggies. There were ready-to-go meats and then special meats that needed to be ordered. For dessert, they had small cups of ice cream. We made the most of it (even got 2 types of broth) and enjoyed our meal and was very full. There was not room for s’mores.
While we were there, there were 2 birthday celebrations (there was a song and a sign and a sparkling candle. The restaurant itself wasn’t super full. The staff was fairly attentive.

Overall, it was good, but I’d say their BBQ was better than their hotpot. It was a cold day, though, so it did serve us well, but the broth was not as flavorful as we’d like it to be.
