Welcome to my life.

There are so many things in my life that have made me the person I am.

I was born in Minneapolis and spent my entire childhood there. Went to school in Iowa (yes, there are a lot of corn fields, but my campus was in the same town as the Nestle plant…so there’s that). Moved back to Minneapolis after college and lived there for about 5 years before moving to New York (the city, lived on Manhattan for a year and then out to Brooklyn for the next 4 (Williamsburg)). After that I was back in Minneapolis for just under 2 years. I work in sales and have very mixed feelings about it, but so far so good.

Currently I’m in Chicago, and have been here for about 3 years. I live in Logan Square/Humboldt Park. I like my little studio apartment, for now, but I need to be closer to the train lines. This moving in Chicago thing will not be happening because I’m about to make my biggest move yet and cross an ocean.

So…what else. I’m pretty damn awesome. My current drink of choice is Hendricks and Tonic, but occasionally I’ll pull a Tito’s and Soda. If I were to attach two words to myself, I’d say traveler and foodie. Yes, it sounds pretty basic, but that is the life I live and the life I love. I’m a go-to for my friends for food related things and occasional for travel related things (probably more for my stories than anything). Current fave food at the moment is Japanese (almost all things, except for maybe ramen – not at the top of my list). Current fave movie is still probably Crazy Rich Asians since last year. All time favorite drink still is a very well made Old Fashioned (with the real cherries) and I’ll always take some bubbly.

I’m currently am slightly addicted to Social Media (yes, I’m capitalizing on it). I’m on Instagram (with 4 accounts…I know, little crazy – travel, food, my life, and Malort Faces, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat (@rileyjacks), Yelp… I love taking pictures and need to fit more photowalks into my life. I shoot with my Nikon D3000, Olympus Pen EL-6 and my iPhone XS Max (I love the Portrait feature, but don’t use it nearly enough).
